Actually both issues 1 & 2 are merged into the PDF that you can download below. Linde Werdelin continues "The Perfect Five" comic with another episode/issue. I first wrote about Linde Werdelin creating comics here, and now the fun continues. On pages 11 and 12 my likeness makes a cameo as a decapitated head. This pretty much sums up how many watch brand want to see me.

Yellow or red accents are found in the chronograph hands as well as the stitching in the leather straps. The straps are porthole style, but don't got all the way through to protect the strap. It comes across as being a welcome style addition to the overall look of the design.

Some vintage lovers will proclaim, loudly, that vintage was better than all this modern mass-produced junk. They pine for the good ol’ days where Swiss farmers finished wheels and cogs in their attics during the winter, using the finest tools wrapped in unicorn hair and only assembling components on the thighs of beautiful virgins, and say that modern mass production has nothing on good old-fashioned hand craftsmanship. I disagree. I work with watches on a daily basis and I have no delusions about vintage stuff. It is not better. Often times it is worse in terms of performance, reliability and finishing. For highly collectible pieces the price does not reflect the essential value of the piece, it only reflects the rarity. That isn’t to say that vintage is garbage, far from it. You can have a reliable, accurate daily watch that was made several decades ago. But in terms of finishing and an overall feel of quality, new stuff wins hands down. You need to realize this when collecting vintage — just because prices reach into the stratosphere doesn’t mean the item will be astonishingly well made. It usually isn’t the case.

Strong looking hands and applied hour indicators are crisp and easy to see. Not sure if there is lume on the dial though. The Sapphire crystal is AR coated and provides a clear view of the dial. On the dial the GMT hand is easy to distinguish from the Hour and minutes hands. It also helps that the seconds are displayed in a subsidiary dial. You'll see that Zenith also managed to tastefully integrate the date. I am really loving the design and look of that blued steel GMT hand.

Rolex Sea Dweller watches

As a way of rewarding readers I've teamed up with Wolf Designs to create a special limited edition aBlogtoRead.com branded single watch winder. It will be available for sale in just a few days. People have been asking for an aBlogtoRead.com wrist watch for a while - that one might take a while... but I am really excited to offer you a new any to enjoy aBlogtoRead.com and keep your automatic watches safe and wound.

The name Decalogue is actually another term for the Ten Commandments - which obviously has religious significance in Judaism as well as other religions. Hebrew is based on Aramaic, and on the dial of the watch you'll see Aramaic characters in addition to the Hebrew hour indicators. The piece also has the Star of David placed on it in three separate places. First as the subsidiary seconds dial, and then on the crown as well as engraved on the mainspring barrel on the movement. While the watch is clearly meant to be as an item of Judaica, it does not present itself as such in a cheesy way (well the Star of David seconds hand is debatable on that point). Actually, there is a version of the Decalogue watch called the Decalogue Rega that does not have the subsidiary seconds dial.

The watch case is 43mm wide in steel. The version with the red text around the dial comes in a polished steel case, while two other versions (with yellow or green text) are also available. Those other two versions come in PVD black coated cases. All versions have black bezels though. Interestingly enough, the LED color in this version is red, but in the other two versions are green (which is rather neat).

According to the brand the watch dial is supposed to remind you of a racing car's gauges. Either I haven't been in enough race cars or that makes no sense. Monster truck ? Maybe. "Folks get ready! All cars stall in fear... of the POWER BREAKER. The demolition-mobile!" One of these de GRISOGONO Power Breaker Chronograph watches is available on James List right now for about ,000 - a lot less than retail.

Omega Seamaster watches

Omega likes to play with the decorative elements on the watch. An especially nice area for art is the plate underneath the tourbillon. This plate is routinely machine guilloche engraved to offer a beautiful look that you need to seek out under the tourbillon while it is spinning. Speaking of which, machine guilloche engraving is what makes up most of my favorite Omega Central Tourbillon watch. A very discreet model with no brand name on the dial. All there is to remind you it is an Omega is the brand logo placed in as part of the tourbillon carriage.

The different dials vary in color as well as the hour indicators. The hands are meant to be very legible with the minute hand almost dwarfing the hour hand. On this version the hour hand is not outlined in black as it is on other dials. That makes the hour hand look a bit puny. I would have liked for it to be larger. In fact, while it is still very legible, the hands could have easily been longer on the Manta Ray.

I couldn't help but write about this. You might already know about these, which means you think they are as cool as I do. Nike has decided to build a limited edition set of the Nike MAG shoes from Back to the Future Part II as part of their "It's About Time" collection. These shoes have until now only existed as movie props. People have been begging Nike to actually make them for years - and here they are. There will be 1,500 pairs made - every single one will be auctioned off on eBay from now until September 18th, 2011.

From a value perspective, these aren't too bad for a one of a kind hand-made item. This, and other watches in this collection go for 6,900 Swiss Francs (about that in US dollars). Big and certainly bold, these ultra weird watches are going to delight some, and certainly alienate others. Are you the type of watch lover that can stand behind what Artya delivers? I think I just might be.

Clearly the "Virgin knight" doesn't need the cash. He has indicated that money made from his relationship with Bulova will go straight to his Virgin Unite charity, and some of the proceeds from the sale of the watches will also go to the charity. To honor their relationship there is a new limited edition watch.

One of the most impressive elements of the case is the case back. Rounded and smooth, a series of pieces come together here for an underside that is virtually flush. This signals very careful engineering with components that have almost no tolerances. The bezel is also a thing of beauty. It involves machine cut steel and rubber,  and is damn cool looking (the numerals are each individually cut and the rubber is there to help protect them). With a range of materials, the Jellyfish case actually follows the Hublot mantra of "fusion." In this 43mm wide case you'll find at least steel, rubber, and ceramic. According to Nubeo, the milling process for the case parts takes over 3 hours alone.
